Tim's Terrific Texas Tour: Kicking Off Back-to-School 2019!
Judging by the sheer atmospheric density of the charcoal grill smoke here in Chicago, it's almost August. And that means I'm gearing up for my busiest time of year: Back-to-School season!
This year I'm kicking things off with a tongue-twisting tour of tumbleweed-free towns in Texas. (Plus a quick jaunt to Oklahoma, which is always OK with me. And with the post office too, come to think of it.)
My first stop, on July 30th, is the TEKS Resource System Conference in San Antonio, which will bring thousands of Texas educators together for three days of collaboration, innovation, and learning.
Other dates on the back of the t-shirt for this particular tour:
I'll be doing educational keynotes and breakout sessions, including my Three C's program that focuses on how to swap out rules for trust, criticism for critical thinking, and test-taking for minds in the making.
One of the reasons I particularly love visiting schools in Texas is that I'm always so impressed with how much they focus on development, training, and motivation for all their educational talents. The world probably doesn't need one more easy joke about how everything is bigger in Texas, but I will say that the commitment these schools make to their kids is big enough that you can see it from space.
That said, I do still have a few openings in my calendar for late August. So if you know of a school district in Texas (or anywhere else) that could use a funny keynote speaker who's guaranteed to liven up their conference with laughs, a lifetime of lessons learned, and a metaphorical gift-pack of practical improv techniques for the classroom, send 'em my way and tell them to ask for my "Back to School Special."
